Tekfen Residential Design Competition

Esenyurt Residential Development was a design competition based in a very typical neighbourhood of the peripheral districts of Istanbul.
Like many others, it comprises of a mix of well used late 20th century housing stock mostly midrise with well-worn streets and small businesses, shops, restaurants, and cafés that support and nourish the local community.
Stitching the development into the fabric of the city and embedding it into the community are critical aspects to consider. These can be achieved not only in terms of complimentary and shared uses but also architecturally in terms of the massing, scale, and materiality of the development.
