Have you faced any barriers in your career due to being a woman? If so, how did you overcome them?
I consider myself lucky to have had several mentors throughout my career, both male and female, who have encouraged and pushed me to chase my goals with unapologetic force. There have certainly been barriers, but I’ve had the support to navigate and cross them with strength and grace.
What’s your favourite/most rewarding part of your work?
The people, the talent, and the visionary experiences that are created. I feel privileged to work with such an incredible team. I love seeing projects go from the drafting table to welcoming guests. It’s amazing to see the process and witness the passion and drive of the team from start to finish.

What inspired you to pursue a career in architecture?
Travels as a child engaged my curiosity about spaces and their identity. The Interdisciplinary nature of architecture allows me to merge creativity with problem-solving. My love for architecture stems from its potential to shape lives and communities. Growing up in India where space is limited for many, I’m always intrigued to create engaging environments, whether public or private. Architects’ power in materializing intangible emotions into tangible structures propelled me onto this path.
How do you see the role of women in architecture evolving?
Our foremothers have tirelessly fought for a place for us within the system, our responsibility is to amplify our voices and redefine the norms. The evolution of our role includes a commitment to designing spaces that go beyond physical structures — spaces that embrace diversity of experiences, perspectives, and talents. As Women in leadership roles grow it will not only evolve the architectural workplace but also the language of design and identity of spaces.

What female figures, historical or contemporary, have inspired you the most?
Zaha Hadid. Her extraordinary accomplishments were even more remarkable considering she was working in an industry largely dominated by men. She was often subjected to controversies that her male counterparts were not. Despite all the doubts and challenges, Hadid has gone from being the architect ‘who never got anything built' to someone who can't stop building. Her story is truly inspiring for not just architects but all women in the professional world.
How do you see the role of women in architecture evolving?
The role of women in architecture is evolving positively as the percentage of women in top position at major architecture firms has doubled over the past five years, despite men still occupy four out of five key roles. With more women becoming professionals and being trained for senior and executive management, it’s only a matter of time before we achieve further parity and recognize women’s influence on and contribution to architecture.
