Nestled within a private canyon in the Upper Napa Valley, lied Calistoga Ranch, occupying a sprawling 157-acre site adorned with ancient oaks, majestic hills, a rock-hewn stream, and a serene private lake. This remarkable retreat seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings, erasing the boundaries between indoor and outdoor realms, cultivating an unparalleled sense of connection to the environment.
Materials played an important role in creating a design that combined the “cabin in the woods” atmosphere appropriate to the project’s setting and philosophy with a sophisticated resort experience. Rustic materials such as cedar shingles, dry-stacked stone and copper roofs, were merged with sleek materials such as black steel doors and steel airline cable deck railings. Floor to ceiling windows erased the line between indoor and outdoor spaces, blending together to form a single integrated experience.
